Head in the Clouds

Perhaps it is fitting that the last day of 2007 would be draped in fog. Much of the Southeast had heavy fog and the drive from Montgomery to Wetumpka was an adventure. Anybody who would drive 60 to 70 mph when you can't see more than 100 yards down the road has yet to be involved in a bone-jarring crash--but it probably will not be long. The fog did not burn off until late morning and I took the opportunity to capture a few pictures of the Bibb Graves bridge crossing the Coosa River from beautiful downtown Wetumpka. I took about a dozen photos that all seem very interesting to me, but will share just three. If you click on the image, it will enlarge for greater detail. I could pass these off as early morning, but in fact they were taken around 10:30 a.m. Tomorrow begins a new year and the world will seem much brighter.

I think the fog is mysteriously beautiful.
We were in Montgomery a week ago this past Saturday for a Benson cousin
Christmas luncheon - then we drove on to Tallassee to visit my father's grave - and then drove across the bridge at Tallassee - just because we were there and I wanted to and the fog was so thick up the river - and beautiful. My memories of driving across the bridge are from early childhood - but this was the first time I remember seeing it enshrouded in fog - although I remember my dad telling me stories about the fog up the river.
And then we drove on through the fog to Georgia to visit our son in prison on Sunday....then back home on Monday to wait for Santa to come....Santa came, but he was very tired.

Happy New Year, Roxy! I think this might be the year I start my own blog.

Oooh, creepy! Reminds me of Sleepy Hollow. I agree with Ashley - you should blow up some of these & frame them.

It wasn't this foggy in Panama City. Well, it was on Sunday, but Monday & Tuesday were VERY bright & gorgeous days. I miss it already. Sigh.

The first time Avery saw fog she asked, "momma, where did the sky go?"
